its been a while, but yesterday i sat at evoe’s in portland for lunch. the furniture had been rearranged, the owner playing house, not all that successfully. but there was kevin, reassuringly working his food. the menu had changed, eats i hadn’t tasted, exquisite presentation aside, the cauliflower soup, the razor clams, both were delicious. a glass of italian white, a roero arneis from matteo correggia, suggested by platinum hued dolce, worked well with the food. i miss evoe when i can’t get there, the pace and the mien of the place makes it feel like my house, i only wish i had those two working my stove.
